A Passion for the Vine: Wineries Going Green.

Zan Media, has just released its second wine documentary film, A Passion for the Vine, a sequel to A State of Vine. Both films showcase wineries that have gone green in a big way, and are enjoying those bragging rights with top-notch wines from both Sonoma and Napa counties.
A State of Vine takes a look at Sonoma Wine Company, which is committed to reducing its footprint on the environment and local community through resource conservation and efficiency, solid waste management, carbon management and a Quality Management System across facilities for continuous improvement. Their sustainable business practices include water and energy conservation and efficiency, recycling of all wine packaging materials, renewable energy, rainwater catchment and diversion, greenhouse gas emissions inventory and tracking and an engaged and active partner with our local and regional stakeholders.
A Passion for the Vine interviews former Ambassador Kathryn Hall, vintner/owner of HALL Wines. She talks at length about their obtaining the prestigious Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification for their Napa Valley St. Helena winery, becoming the first winery in California to be distinguished as a Gold certified facility by the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Green Building Rating System™.
The HALL St. Helena LEED certified winery is one of most advanced wineries in California, with state-of-the-art facilities designed for ultra-premium wine production. Kathryn feels that the extra attention to the land, necessitated by their sustainable efforts, creates a better product, and one taste of the resulting wines proves it so.
HALL St. Helena also now offers visitors the opportunity to utilize an ECOtality EV Charging Station. ECOtality is the leader in clean electric transportation and storage technologies.
Zan Media, director and partner, Don Scioli, explains more about the company’s commitment to producing films and videos that highlight and educate the public on sustainable practices. “We are a Bay Area certified green business and this is a distinction of honor for us. We love to use our creative talents to help inform while entertaining. Both of these movies are fun, slightly raucous and filled with tidbits about wine, music, art and sports with a great nod to mother earth!
