Business Alliance Responds to Anti-Green Jobs Report

San Francisco (June 16, 2010) – Today the California Manufacturers and Technology Association (CMTA) released a study titled “The Truth About Green Jobs and California.”

Statement from Susan Frank, Coordinator for the California Business Alliance for a Green Economy:

“It is unfortunate to see that the California Manufacturers and Technology Association has commissioned another study that attempts to belittle clean energy’s contribution to building a healthy and prosperous California economy.

The fact of the matter is that clean energy continues to be a unique bright-spot in California’s battered economy. Reputable research conducted by Collaborative Economics, found that between 2007 and 2008 green jobs grew 5% in California while total jobs dropped 1%. Furthermore, their study found that manufacturing represents 21% of all green jobs, and grew 19% between 1995 and 2008.

No segment of California’s business community should fear the contribution of clean energy and green jobs to California economic prosperity.”
