New Green Innovation Challenge Grants to Drive Job Creation in CA
San Francisco (May 26, 2010) – Statement from Susan Frank, Coordinator, California Business Alliance for a Green Economy, in response to today’s announcement by the Schwarzenegger Administration that the California Employment Development Department (EDD) will provide up to $20 million in Green Innovation Challenge grants to fund projects to train and prepare workers for the state’s growing clean energy economy.
“California is once again demonstrating that when it comes to the vast and profitable clean energy economy, it is better to lead than to follow. California’s climate and energy security law, AB 32, is driving the growth of clean tech industries and jobs within our state, rather than overseas. Creating a highly skilled workforce to meet this growing demand will help to fuel California’s economic engine as we corner this multi-trillion dollar worldwide market.”
